 Servizio di Accoglienza Centale (SAC) is the tool for central hospitality. It works in connection with the National Committees of the different countries. It works with the structures of voluntary work and with religious and non religious structures for organisation. The operative tool is the Pilgrim Card. What is the Pilgrim Card The card is the tool chosen by the Central Committee for the Great Jubilee to provide pilgrims with many services and facilities to guarantee a serene experience of the Jubilee. It is the best result of detailed studies and evaluations among the possible solutions for managing services suitable to pilgrims and to monitor the flow of mobility. Certainly it represents a new tool because of the microchip that is used for the first time on such a large scale. Services and facilitations The Card ensures a series of services and facilitations: - guaranteed participation at booked events - unlimited use of Rome's city transport plus the Rome-Fiumicino train services and special lines for Jubilee itineraries - prepaid meals at some restaurants: Lit. 15.000 for a hot meal and Lit. 10.000 for a snack - reductions on entrance tickets for main museums in Rome and the Galleria Doria Pamphili - reductions on book purchases in religious bookstores in Rome - the Card may be used for phone calls at 10% and 30% reduction valid until June 30, 2001 (prepayment of Lit. 10.000 for Italians and Lit. 20.000 for non-Italians) - insurance for pilgrims who purchase SAC Packages and for all pilgrims not associated with groups - Carta Romea, given free of charge by the Italian rail FS to holders of the Pilgrim Card for 20% reduction in 2nd class and 30% in 1st class for journeys to and from Rome: Booking seat is compulsory and free of charge. Valid until June 2001. Participation in Jubilee events is entirely free of charge How to book and obtain the Card Groups: Pilgrims may apply to the accredited Tour Operator in their own country or to the SAC in Rome. Lit. 65.000 for non-Italians who use packages offered by the SAC. Lit. 75.000 for Tour Operator who request the Card for use with their own tourist packages. "1 Day" Card Those wishing to take part in one jubilee event and leave Rome the same day may apply to SAC and book a place. The cost is Lit. 10.000 insurance and basic expenses. To this may be added Lit. 5.000 for city transport and Lit. 10.000 for phone calls. "Last minute" Card Issued to pilgrims wishing to book one or more events after the closing of the telephone services or banks. Cost is Lit. 45.000 for italians and Lit. 55.000 for non-Italians.
